Ma Dang Goul

I sort of came across Ma Dang Goul as I went to Simba a while back.  It's not a fancy restaurant.  In fact, it's extremely small.  I would think the maximum amount of customers they can have at a time is 15.  The dishes they serve is a little different from other big Korean restaurant as they are more like simple dishes you would make at home.  The price is reasonable considering its location at Denman/Robson.

The side dishes they served were really nice.  The vegetables were fresh and the sauce was light and nice.   The potatoes was nicely cooked and coated with sweet sauce.  They have this little jelly looking dish which is new to me but the added soy sauce was light with a little of spice added to it.

We ordered this steam egg called Ggyeran Jjim.  Some carrots and spring onions were added to to the egg for steaming.  The steaming wasn't 5-star-ly done but the natural taste of the egg was brought out completely.

The other appetizer ordered was a type of Korean pancake or known as Yachae Jeon.  They have some bean sprouts, spring onions, cabbage and carrots added in it.  The taste was not bad but it would have been nicer if the vegetables didn't fell out.  What interested me was the soy sauce that came with it.  There were some chilli and spices added to the soy sauce which complemented the pancake nicely.

Daegu Tang is a spicy soup that is cooked with a fresh cod and some vegetables.  The soup is light and but somehow the fish and the soup felt a little separated from one another.  The taste of the fish was not blended into the soup and the soup itself was just spicy.  Another thing I didn't like about it was the stinky smell of the fish was still strong.
